Renovation and Extension Electrical in Umina Beach: Getting the Wiring Right
A renovation is the perfect time to fix everything that's always annoyed you about a home's electrical setup — too few power points, poor lighting, switches in the wrong spot — and to bring older wiring up to current standards while the walls are open. Whether you're redoing a kitchen, opening up the back, or adding a deck, getting the electrician involved early makes the whole job smoother.
Why plan the electrical early
The cheapest time to run new cabling, move points and add circuits is before the gyprock goes up. Once walls are closed and painted, changes mean cutting back in. A bit of planning at the start — where you want lights, points, data, the oven, the air conditioner — means it's all roughed in at the right stage and you're not compromising later. We're happy to walk through a plan with you and your builder before anything starts.
How it works, stage by stage
- Rough-in: new cabling for power, lighting, data and appliances run through the open framing before the walls are sheeted, in correct Australian colours and to AS/NZS standards.
- Fit-off: after painting, the points, switches, lights and fittings are installed and connected.
- Testing and sign-off: everything is tested and a certificate of compliance issued for the work.
Bringing older sections up to standard
Renovating an older Umina cottage often means the new section meets standards the rest of the house doesn't. It's worth dealing with any tired wiring or an old switchboard at the same time, while access is good — it's far less disruptive than coming back to it later. We'll tell you honestly what needs attention and what can be left.
Coordinated with your build
The electrical stages have to line up with the rest of the build — rough-in before lining, fit-off after painting — so we coordinate directly with your builder to keep everything on schedule. From a single room to a whole-home renovation across Umina, Ettalong and Booker Bay, we handle the lot and sign it off properly. Get in touch early and we'll help you plan it right.
